Woman beaten, carjacked outside Prairie Shores apartment

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 27-year-old woman who recently moved to Chicago to attend medical school was held at gunpoint, beaten and carjacked.

The attack occurred early Saturday at 25th Street and King Drive near the Prairie Shores Apartment buildings a few blocks south.

The woman told ABC7 that she moved last month from New York last month to do her rotations at Jackson Park Hospital. She lives in the Prairie Shores apartment and was returning home shortly after midnight when the attack happened in the building's parking lot.

When she tried to get away, she said she was chased, then violently tackled to the ground. She said that there were people in the vicinity, but no one came to her aid.
