CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Cubs will play their final home game of the season at Wrigley Field Wednesday night and then the $575 million expansion project will begin.

Wrigley Field is expanding the bleachers and adding seven new signs in the outfield, including a new video board in left field.

Construction fencing will begin going up Thursday around the park. Crews are preparing for the next 26 weeks, knowing most of the work will be done in the winter.

Opening day for the Cubs is set for April 6, 2015, against their arch rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals.
