Wednesday marks the start of the show's food drive, which runs through Friday. Attendees can bring three cans of food and get a coupon for $5 off a full-price adult ticket.

Test tracks were screeching on day five of the auto show as people pondered purchases while donating canned goods to the food drive for "A Safe Haven," the social service agency of choice for the Chicago Automotive Trade Association. It serves healthy meals to over 3,000 homeless individuals every year.
"We put them in our own food pantry while distributing to other food pantries so that way we can get a big reach and support the Chicago community," volunteer coordinator Alona Montgomery said.

The goodwill inspired by doing good is one reason that a Wisconsin family traveled to be here. They're also in the market for a van.
"It is like a double bonus," said Kelsey Green, of Madison. "You get to go to the car show and you get to help feed needy people. It's fantastic."

At the Subaru setup, altruism was also on display as the longtime corporate partner of America's national parks engaged in experiential marketing to unveil the electric Soterra.
"This is the start of many more electric vehicles to come," Subaru spokesperson John Mulkey said.
And yes, there was even a dose of altruism around the spectacular 2023 Z06 Chevrolet Corvette. Bobby Allen has taken care of his family, retired well and paid off his mortgage.
"I come every year to the auto show and it is good to be here and seeing the people and everybody enjoying but this here it lights my eyes up," he said. "It's a sports car. The only all-American sports car in the world and I want to be a part of that."
The Chicago Auto Show runs from February 12-21, with hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day except the final day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors aged 62 and older, $10 for children 4-12 and children 3 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Masks are required for all attendees age 2 and over, except when eating or drinking. Proof of COVID vaccination is not required for admission, but is required for designated food and beverage areas.
