Surveillance video shows the moment a Nissan Rogue carrying two people slams into this North Center gas station just after 3 a.m. A 37-year-old female passenger was thrown from the car and killed, despite first responders best attempts to revive her.

The SUV she was in was struck by a grey Toyota Camry, which moments earlier had been speeding westbound on Irving Park Road from Damen Avenue as shots were fired, according to police.
A K9 Unit that spotted the scene unfold as it was happening gave chase, witnessing the deadly collision.
"He heard shots being fired. He sees muzzle flash coming from a Toyota sedan vehicle. The officer activates his lights. Calls it into the zone," said Migdalia Bulnes, deputy chief of the Bureau of Detectives, during a press conference later Sunday morning. "After striking the Nissan vehicle proceeded to spin around and landed by the gas station by the alley."

However, Bulnes said it was not immediately clear how the shooting originated.
The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she died, police said. She hasn't been identified yet.

The driver of the Rogue, a 27-year-old man, was also taken to Illinois Masonic for observation, but didn't suffer any serious injuries, police said.
An unknown number of occupants fled from the Toyota on foot, police said.

Investigators said those inside the Camry ran away and a weapon recovered from inside the vehicle. While initial reports claimed that the offenders inside the Camry were engaged in a gunfight with a second vehicle, police now say they're not sure exactly who or what they were shooting at.
"We're still looking at video and trying to piece it all together, whether there was another car indeed, or an individual that was also there and it was going back and forth," Bulnes said.
No one was in custody, according to police.
