Chicago shooting: 16-year-old girl shot in head inside car at Little Village gas station, CPD says

Tuesday, September 26, 2023
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being shot and critically injured at a Southwest Side gas station on Tuesday morning.

A loud barrage of gunfire can be heard in a surveillance video from a nearby business. Though it didn't capture much, the BP gas station, where the shooting happened, did.

The manager told ABC7 that he handed over surveillance video to police, hoping to find who shot the girl just before 2 a.m.

Officers said the teenager was in the passenger seat of a vehicle, parked at the gas station near 26th and Kildare in Little Village, when she was shot in the head.

The numerous gunshots, police said, came from inside of a black SUV that sped off.

The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Medical Center in critical condition.

It's not clear what led up to the shooting or who the intended target might have been.

No one is in custody and Area Four detectives are investigating.
