CHICAGO (WLS) -- Rapper FBG Cash was killed and a woman was wounded in a shooting on the city's South Side early Friday morning, authorities said.

The Chicago Police Department said two people were shot, one fatally, at about 5:32 a.m. in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood's 1600 block of West 81st Street.

A man and a woman were inside a vehicle when a black four-door sedan, possibly a Cadillac, approached, police said. An unknown offender got out and opened fire.

A 31-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body, police said. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County Bureau of Administration later identified him as Tristian Hamilton, also known as rapper FBG Cash.

A 29-year-old woman sustained gunshot wounds to the left arm and upper back, police said. She was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.

Police said the offender got back into the sedan and fled westbound. No one is in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.

Hamilton was part of a group of rappers known as the "Fly Boy Gang." Nearly two years ago, another member of the group, FBG Duck, was killed in broad daylight in the Gold Coast by four masked shooters who left behind 38 bullet casings.

Four members of a street gang faction have been charged with the murder of FBG Duck, whose real name was Carlton Weekly. In April, Hamilton had been asked about rumors that he was somehow involved in Weekly's death.

In a YouTube video, Cash denied any involvement, insisting it was a "crazy internet rumor."

Hamilton had served prison time on gun charges several years ago and had been arrested again last year after police said they found a gun after stopping Hamilton for driving erratically.

He was charged with being an armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and felony possession of a weapon. The case was dismissed last fall.
