CTA Red, Purple lines running with delays after North Side track fire

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Red and Purple Line CTA trains were suspended between Howard and Belmont Monday afternoon after a track fire, the CTA said.

The fire broke out at Addison sometime before about 2:45 p.m.



Service resumed with delays about 6:30 p.m.

Red Line trains were only operating between 95th and Belmont, as a result of the incident.

Repairs needed to be made after the fire was put out, the CTA said.

Shuttle buses were available in the affected area.

A shuttle train was also available between Howard and Thorndale to provide connecting service.
