A spokesperson for the secretary of state said the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators network, which connects driver's license facilities across the country, experienced an outage and "forced the system to temporarily shut down across the U.S."
The outage only impacted driver's license transactions, no other services were affected, according to Secretary of State Spokesperson Max Walczyk.
Walczyk said DMVs were unable to access a database search tool to verify a driver's eligibility for a license.
All residents impacted by the outage were notified to reschedule their appointment.
