Car involved in west suburban investigation crashes into Chicago home: police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A car involved in a Cicero police investigation crashed into a home on Chicago's West Side, police said.

Cicero police tried to stop a car on Cermak Road, just east of Cicero Avenue just before 5 p.m., police said. The vehicle was connected to criminal activity in Hillside, police said.



The car sped off, and police attached a tracking device to the vehicle.

Cicero police stopped following the vehicle near the viaduct at Cicero and 46th Street, police said.

Police were alerted that the car sped through a red light at Kostner Avenue, before veering off the road and crashing into the front porch of a home in the 4300-block of Cermak Road in Lawndale.



Two people were injured and one was arrested, police said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene about 5:15 p.m. at Cermak Road and Kostner Avenue.

There was a large police response in the area, blocking some streets.



A red sedan appeared to have crashed into a home next to an Amoco gas station, located at 4351 W. Cermak.

The home's front steps were destroyed.

Hillside police said the incident started as a retail theft at a Michael's store.
