CHICAGO (WLS) -- A person is in custody after a man was shot and critically injured in a South Side parking lot on Tuesday afternoon, Chicago police said.
Police said the shooting happened in the Brainerd neighborhood's 9400-block of South Ashland Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
A known person approached a 32-year-old man, took out a handgun and fired shots, police said.
The victim, shot in the stomach, was transported to Christ Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators are now staged near a Page Security parking lot.
Employees from a nearby business say the shooting happened after an altercation between two Page Security employees.
One of the employees told ABC7 they ran for cover after they witnessed the shooting. They said the shooter ran away.
Police recovered a gun from the scene. CPD later confirmed that one person was taken into custody.
Area detectives are investigating.
Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
