Suburban man facing DUI charges in Kendall Co. crash that killed 3 people, police say

MILLBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- A 22-year-old is facing multiple DUI charges in a crash that killed three people, including a 4-year-old, Illinois State police said.



The crash happened Friday at about 9:15 p.m. on Illinois Route 71 near Walker Road in Millbrook, police said.

Carson M. Rehkopf, 22 of Sugar Grove, is accused of crashing head-on into a an SUV, causing the fatalities.

Police said a Rehkopf was heading southbound when he attempted to pass several vehicles and crashed head-on with an SUV.



A total of four vehicles ended up being involved in the crash.

A passenger from the SUV, 38-year-old Amy L. Witter, died at the scene.

The other three SUV occupants were taken to area hospitals and two of them died.

Kendal County Coroner's Office identified the other victims as James Witter, 65, and a 4-year-old girl.

All victims were from Des Moines, Iowa.



Rehkopf was also injured in the crash. His booking photo shows him with an arm sling.



The 22-year-old was charged with six counts of aggravated DUI involving death, two counts of aggravated DUI involving great bodily harm, and multiple traffic offenses.
