4-year-old among 3 killed in head-on crash in Kendall County, Illinois State Police say

MILLBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- A 4-year-old girl was among three people killed in a head-on crash on Friday night, Illinois State Police said.

The crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. on Illinois Route 71 near Walker Road in Millbrook, police said.

Police said a driver was heading southbound when they attempted to pass several vehicles and crashed head-on with another car.

A total of four vehicles ended up being involved in the crash.

Five people were taken to local hospitals.

ISP said three of the people taken to the hospital died.

Kendal County Coroner's Office identified the victims as Amy Lee Whitter, 38, James Witter, 65, and a 4-year-old girl. All victims were from Des Moines, Iowa.

The road was closed until 5:03 a.m. Saturday.
