A southbound Ford van, driven by a 24-year-old man, was in the 800-block of North Pulaski Road, about 9:50 a.m. when it tried to turn right onto Chicago Avenue, police said.
The vehicle hit the woman, who was in the crosswalk, police said.

The woman suffered head injuries, and was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital in critical condition.
No one else was injured.
The driver remained on the scene, and citations are pending, police said.
The Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
