Semi crash closes Will County road for hours: sheriff

PEOTONE TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WLS) -- A road is closed in the far south suburbs after a crash involving a semitrailer and another vehicle, the Will County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Wilmington-Peotone Road is closed in both directions between Route 45 and Cedar Road due to the crash in Peotone Township, the sheriff's office said.

Emergency crews are on the scene, and the road closure is expected to last until at least 3 p.m., officials said.

The public is asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Chopper 7 was over the scene about 1 p.m., and a small red sedan appeared to be off the road with front-end damage.

Police did not immediately provide any information about possible injuries.
