Suburban man charged with sexually assaulting woman in Loop, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman on CTA property in the Loop, Chicago police said.



The crime happened on Thursday at about 2:57 a.m. in the 200-block of South State Street, Chicago police said.

Rasheed Griffin, 23 of Calumet City, was charged aggravated criminal sexual assault, police announced on Saturday.

Police said Griffin allegedly sexually assaulted a 35-year-old woman.



The woman was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in good condition.

Chicago police said they arrested the suspect just hours after the crime in the 100 block of W. Lake Street.

Griffin was charged with three felony counts: aggravated criminal sexual assault/handicapped, aggravated battery/public place; and aggravated battery/pregnant/handicapped.

He is due in court on Saturday.

No other information was available.
