Circle K store damaged in smash-and-grab in Chicago's Loop, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A driver smashed through the front window of a convenience store in an apparent burglary attempt.



Heavy damage was left behind at the Circle K store at Adams and Franklin in downtown Chicago.

The crime scene is across the street from the Willis Tower.

Chicago police said suspects crashed a black Jeep SUV into the store and tried to take an ATM.



CPD said the ATM was abandoned and the suspect fled in another car.

No items were reported stolen, police said.
