CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Board of Education has approved the Chicago Teachers Union's new contract.

The deal took nearly a year to negotiate between CPS and CTU. But now it's official after Thursday night's vote.

The four-year, $1.5 billion contract gives teachers cost-of-living raises and lower class size limits.

The deal is retroactive to July of last year and runs through June of 2028.
