Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead in Pilsen on Sunday.
COPA said the shooting happened near the 1800-block of South Blue Island Avenue in the Pilsen neighborhood near Loomis Street.
Officers heard multiple shots fired around 1:16 a.m. and encountered armed suspects, according to Chicago police.
Two CPD officers fired their weapons and shot a man, who police said had a gun. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Chicago police recovered a gun at the scene that was in the slide-lock position.
A woman and another man were also shot on Sunday.
Chicago police said the suspect had reportedly shot the two victims inside a car before officers arrived.
Both were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, police said.
Two officers were taken to an area hospital for observation. One officer had minor injuries.
The specifics of this incident, including the comprehensive use of force investigation, are being investigated by COPA, police said.
Officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum period of 30 days.
This marks the second COPA investigation this weekend.

On Friday, a Chicago police officer opened fire in the 1700 block of W. 47th Street during a traffic stop.
The vehicle was wanted in connection to a homicide. No one was hit by gunfire, CPD said.
