2 men stabbed blocks apart in South Loop; 1 attack involved axe, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two men were stabbed just blocks apart in the South Loop early Monday morning, Chicago police said.

One of those attacks allegedly involved an axe.



The first happened around 1 a.m. near 14th and Canal streets.

A 40-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk, when an armed suspect on a bike approached him, police said.



The suspect hit the man several times and robbed him, police said

The second attack happened an hour later near 13th and Jefferson streets.

Police say officers on patrol saw a 44-year-old man standing in the middle of the street after being attacked by two men.

The victim said one of the suspects was armed with an axe.



Both men are expected to be OK.

No one is in custody.

It's not immediately clear if the incidents were connected.
