Thieves steal ATM from North Side bar: VIDEO

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Early Monday morning, a corner bar in Lakeview became the most recent example of a Chicago business hit by a small group of thieves in a very deliberate manner.

It happened around 3:25 a.m. at Wrigleyville North at the corner of Sheridan and Byron. The suspects bashed in the front window, and seemingly, in a matter of seconds, they dragged out an ATM and were gone.

"They are good. They were in and out in two minutes. There's not much you can really do about that," said Wrigleyville North Owner Erin Folan.

Folan shared surveillance video from her bar, showing three people smashing their way through the front window. Another angle shows the intruders running to the back of the bar and dragging out an ATM.

"I don't know what the window is going to cost yet, but, I mean, it's probably going to be at least $2,000, you know, out of our pocket. And, you know, you have a great weekend with the football game at Wrigley, and you see that profit just taken up by this," Folan said.

Folan runs another business in Edison Park, close to Tony's Italian Deli & Subs.

Over the weekend, the co-owner of the deli told ABC7 her husband unknowingly walked in through the back of the store early Saturday morning while three suspects were stealing property. One of the suspects, she says, held a gun to her husband's head.

"I was in there, trying to support them after their break-in. They're one of the, you know, neighborhood businesses, and then, for us, the next morning, to be victims of the same thing, it's just little crazy," Folan said.

On Sunday, Chicago police sent out a business alert connecting at least 10 commercial burglaries this month in 10 different neighborhoods to a group of two to four men between 20 and 30 years old wearing dark hooded clothing and ski masks. And while CPD has yet to connect this most recent burglary in Lakeview to the others, people who live there are left feeling uneasy.

"It looked like they were so determined to do what they were doing. And also, like, might happen again in the neighborhood, like they were on a mission. And that's never, like, a good sign to see, especially when it's so close to home," said regular customer Imani Morgan.

Chicago police say a witness saw a silver sedan pulling away from the scene after the burglary. Police also say the offenders used a previously reported stolen gray or silver Infinity four-door in most of the burglaries referenced in the alert.

Area Three detectives are investigating, and no one is in custody.
