The crash happened at about 3:47 on the outbound lanes of I-90/94 at 18th Street, police said.
Two cars were involved in the crash. ISP said two people were taken to local hospitals with injuries.
One person died at the hospital, ISP said.
The crash shut down all outbound lanes from 4:19 a.m. to about 7:45 a.m.
Video captured by ABC7 shows the traffic building up on the Dan Ryan.
No other information regarding the crash was available.
