CTA must pay nearly $3M to woman convicted of killing, dismembering North Side landlord

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Transit Authority must pay nearly $3 million to a convicted murderer who is serving a 60-year prison sentence.

Sandra Kolalou was convicted of murdering and dismembering her North Side landlord, Frances Walker, days after getting an eviction notice in 2022.



Three years before the murder, she filed suit against the CTA after she was hit by a bus on the Far North Side.

While that suit was pending, she was charged and convicted of murder.



The CTA appealed, but a Cook County court of appeals denied their bid to undo that verdict.
