Eduardo Fajardo Jr., 21, is charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash and Obstructing Justice/Concealment of Evidence.
The sheriff's office said according to witnesses, Fajardo got into his 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck at a party in unincorporated Gurnee and drove away at a high rate of speed on July 27, 2025.
About a two-minute drive away, Fajardo was allegedly involved in a crash with a motorcycle near Green Bay Road and Sallmon Avenue in Beach Park around 2:30 a.m.
Deputies responded to the scene just before 6 a.m. and found 19-year-old Adrian Rogel-Villanueva, of Waukegan, and his motorcycle in a field near the intersection.
Investigators did not find any other vehicles at the scene, but they recovered dark red paint transfer from the offending vehicle on Rogel-Villanueva's motorcycle, along with numerous 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck parts at the scene. Authorities also obtained surveillance footage of a dark-colored pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed toward the scene.
Investigators say after the crash, Fajardo canceled the insurance policy on the pickup truck, which is believed to have been destroyed.
Authorities arrested Fajardo at his unincorporated Waukegan home just before 6 a.m. Friday.
