Grant Park Music Festival director featured during Super Bowl halftime show

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago-area was represented on the big stage on Sunday.



Giancarlo Guerrero, the Grant Park Music Festival director, was featured during the Super Bowl LX halftime show next to Bad Bunny.

He was seen conducting a group of string players during the song "Monaco."



"Bad Bunny is a multi-talented artist who plays so many kinds of Hispanic music. It doesn't just feel familiar, the music feels like home. It was quite an amazing experience to be a part of," Guerrero said. "There are so many brilliant artists involved with the creation of this show and it was beyond inspiring to work with them and watch it all come together. How exciting to be a part of it all!"

Guerrero will be back in Chicago on June 10 to conduct the Grant Park Orchestra at the opening of the festival's 10-week season in Millennium Park.

He was born in Nicaragua and immigrated during his childhood to Costa Rica, where he joined the local youth symphony. His career has led him to Texas, Nashville and Chicago.

Guerrero is a six-time Grammy Award-winning conductor, who also serves as the Music Director of Sarasota Orchestra, and the Music Director Laureate of the Nashville Symphony.

"Both my daughters and wife are huge fans of Bad Bunny," Guerrero said. "If I wouldn't have jumped at this opportunity, they would never have forgiven me!"
