GRIFFITH, Ind. (WLS) -- Indiana Governor Mike Pence saluted Griffith High School's basketball team in person Wednesday for their resilience. The team survived a serious bus crash in March and just days later returned to the court to try to advance to Indianapolis in the state tournament.

Pence praised the team for its "heart" and "character." He presented the team with a basketball signed by Indiana native and former NBA great Larry Bird.
