LAKE FOREST, Ill. (WLS) -- A north suburban boil order was lifted on Sunday after crews repaired a water main break, officials said.

Officials said the break at Waukegan and Westleigh roads caused water pressure levels to drop on Friday, and the boil order impacted the entire city.

Water pressure returned to normal after crews repaired the break on Saturday, but the boil order remained in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Testing revealed that the water is now safe to drink, cook with, and use for all household activities, city officials said on Sunday morning.

Officials said in a statement, in part, "As an extra precaution, you may choose to run both cold and hot water taps for five minutes each, starting with the lowest faucet in your home (such as a basement or lower-level sink). This helps flush any water that may have remained in your pipes or water heater during the boil order."
