15-year-old boy shot in the face in drive-by attack on Far South Side, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A teenage boy was injured in a drive-by shooting on Chicago's Far South Side early Saturday morning, police said.

Police said officers responded to a report of a shooting in the South Deering neighborhood's 10000-block of South Paxton Avenue just after 3:30 a.m.



A 15-year-old boy was outside when a dark-colored sedan went past him, and someone took out a gun and fired shots, police said.

The Chicago Fire Department treated the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to the face, on the scene. He was and transported to Comer Children's Hospital in fair condition.



Area Two detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
