Village Manager Pat Carr said the victims were shot to death during a domestic incident at a home in the 7400 block of 173rd Street. Police arrived on the scene just before 11:30 a.m.

Loved ones gathered at the scene Sunday night with heavy hearts.

When police arrived at the scene Sunday morning, officers found four women dead inside the home, all from apparent gun shot wounds. A man was also found in the home uninjured.

The man is in custody, police said. Investigators told ABC7 the suspected shooter was the husband and father of the victims who made the 911 call.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the victims as Majeda Kassem, 59; Halema Kassem, 25; Zahia Kassem, 25; and Hanan Kassem, 24.

Police remained on the scene to investigate on Sunday afternoon. A weapon was recovered.

"This was isolated to the home," Carr said. "The scene is secure. There is only one suspect at this time."
During a Sunday afternoon press conference, Tinley Park Police Chief Tom Tilton said there is no threat to the public.

"It's a tragedy," Carr said. "Not only for the family, but all the surrounding neighbors that are there."

The news was disturbing for those who live nearby and knew the family.

"My daughter knows them," resident Charlotte Vaitkus said. "She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters. She always talked about how they were all very intelligent, and they had very high goals in life."

Charges against the man in custody are still pending. Police have not identified the suspect, but plan to release more information about this case tomorrow morning at 11.

Officials did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
