CHICAGO (WLS) -- ABC7 Chicago is launching a new anti-violence public service announcement Sunday on our social media platforms to spark conversation and promote peace.

In a milestone for an annual event that showcases young people who use poetry to call for positive change in their communities, "Louder Than A Bomb" celebrated 15 years at a star-studded occasion Sunday night.

It's called a "poetry slam" and Sunday night at the Black Ensemble Theatre, actor Alec Baldwin was among those who came together to help celebrate the anniversary of the largest youth poetry festival in the world, born in Chicago with the purpose of bringing inner city youth together.

"Young people are the same all over the world," Baldwin said. "They have passions and they have feelings that they're celebrating and they're wrestling with."

"Once you understand that what you have to say has merit has value, you can be courageous," said Louder Than A Bomb co-founder Kevin Coval "That can be a really important thing for a young person's development."

Louder Than A Bomb has grown from 60 to 1300 students area wide and performances are now held in 10 North American cities.

"My story is not a Chicago story, it's a human story," performer Malcom London said. "It's a story of finding a voice of inspiration. Of collectively building and re-imagining not only what Chicago can look like, but what a city can look like."

Performing her new song "Still Believe" for the first time, hip-hop artist FM Supreme says she hopes the song and its accompanying video will help promote peace amongst Chicago's youth.

"Music brings people together, it's something that can shift culture," said Jessica Disu, aka "FM Supreme." "It's a way to get the ears of young people who are victims of the crimes and perpetrators of violence."

In addition to her performance Sunday night, FM Supreme will soon embark on a tour of 25 Chicago Public Schools in the hopes her video will inspire young people to make a difference in their community.
