HOMER GLEN, Ill. (WLS) -- A bald eagle found in the southwest suburbs is recovering at a facility downstate. A family in Homer Glen found him in their yard last Friday.

The Countryside Animal Clinic in Streator says the eagle has a lot of cuts, but no broken bones. Right now, veterinarians are not sure what caused the trauma, but say he's doing better.

"He's actually starting to fight a little bit, which is a good sign, because up until this point he was very docile, which worries me and these guys, but he's actually putting up a little fight, and we like to see that," said Dr. Robert Harms, Countryside Animal Clinic.

Once the eagle gets a little better, he will go to a rehab center, and eventually be released into the wild.
