CHICAGO (WLS) -- Average retail gasoline prices in Chicago have fallen 11.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.88 a gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 1,437 gas outlets in Chicago.
The national average has fallen 6.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $1.82 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.
Areas nearby Chicago and their current gas price climate:
Rockford- $1.73/g, down 7.6 cents per gallon from last week's $1.80/g.
Gary- $1.62/g, down 5.6 cents per gallon from last week's $1.68/g.
South Bend- $1.52/g, down 12.3 cents per gallon from last week's $1.65/g.
Including the change in gas prices in Chicago during the past week, prices Sunday were 25.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 30.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 17.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 20.0 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago, GasBuddy says.
