CHICAGO (WLS) -- Family Day at the Chicago Auto Show is like one big family outing! Of course, there are cars galore for every size and style, but there's pint-size entertainment, too!
"We do this every year! We love the opportunity to see the new cars, to have the kids run around," said visitor Eleni Makris.
"They love cars and so do we, and it's a good opportunity on President's Day to bring them out to have fun!" said Brian Prather.
"I came to bring my daughter on a family outing, but it is my birthday!" said visitor Gail Tyiska.
Sprinkled among the car exhibits are plenty of interactive fun! At Ford, it's Sim-Zilla!
"It's used to simulate racing - currently we have it set up to race the Ford GT on the Le Mans race track in France," said Jake Papendick. production designer, Mannetron.
"It was pretty cool, it was hard, but easy at the same time!" said visitor Max Messina.
One of the most popular things at the Chicago Auto Show on Family Day, or any day for that matter, is the test track. At Jeep, the wait was over an hour.
"The test drive is awesome! Exciting, you know, it's off road and everything!" said visitor Jose Valdez.
"I was impressed how it could go up that steep!" said visitor Tommy Federmeyer.
You can unleash your inner gearhead at the FCA driving course test track. Toyota's Blizzard to Beach test track shows you just what the RAV 4 can do.
"I just liked the experience of feeling how it would be if you're really driving in tough terrain," said visitor Marc Contreras, 8.
Fun, absolutely, but it's also an opportunity to do some research.
"I'm in the market to shop for a new car and it's a good way to compare different cars," said visitor Jameson Marchese.
Kimberly Richardson knows she looks good in a Ford Fusion.
"Every year me and my family come on Presidents Day to the auto show," she said.
This annual tradition might result in a purchase.
"And every year I look at the Fusion saying, this is going to be the year, I'm going to trade my car in. So, you caught me right as I was kind of haggling with the auto dealer about what can I do to get my car traded in," Richardson said.
Melissa Paredes brought the family for some hands-on shopping because, well, the family is growing.
"I have two boys and another boy on the way," she said. "We're trying to find a new car to expand. Right now, we have a Jeep Cherokee, so we're trying to see between a minivan or something with a third row," Paredes said.
