WASHINGTON (WLS) -- Federal safety inspectors have revised their Takata airbag recall notice after the original recall incorrectly included some vehicles and excluded others.
The National Highway Traffic Safety administration expanded the number of recalled vehicles from 5 million to 6.1 million. The defective airbags could explode without warning and send shards of metal flying through the vehicle.
Certain Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Chrysler, Ford and General Motors vehicles are affected, spanning model years 2000-2008. The full list of affected vehicles can be found here.
