CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were injured, one critically, when a car crashed into a CTA Pink Line station in the city's North Lawndale neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators remain on the scene. Officials said a white four-door Volkswagen sedan rammed into Central Park Pink Line station one of its entrances. It also appeared to have hit a nearby bench.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. at the station just south of Ogden Avenue.

Chicago fire officials said two people were injured in the incident. One person is in serious to critical condition, and the other is in fair to good condition.

It is unclear if the injured were in the car, or pedestrians, or perhaps both. The cause of the crash was also unclear.

The Pink Line station remains open and CTA service does not appear to be affected. The car was removed from the scene shortly after 4 p.m.
