CHICAGO (WLS) -- Phoenix Military Academy, a Chicago military school, is getting a $6 million boost from the Pentagon.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Sen. Dick Durbin made the announcement at the school Friday morning.
The federal grant will support a new leadership program at the school and enhance studies in science, technology, engineering and math.
Fifty freshmen will begin the courses next year. By their senior year, those students will be on-track for advanced placement science and math classes.
