PALATINE, Ill. (WLS) -- A community college in Palatine is cutting more than two dozen jobs in an effort to save money.

Harper College is eliminating 19 full-time and 10 part-time jobs, which will save the school $3.5 million.

The college said it is owed more than $9 million in state aid and grants, but hasn't received any funding due to the state budget crisis.

Earlier this week, Chicago State University told students and staff it plans to begin laying off 50 percent of its workforce due to the budget impasse.
