Englewood student charged after gun in backpack detected by x-ray machine

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An Englewood high school student was arrested Thursday after she brought a gun to school, Chicago Police said.

Mecca Bryant, 18, had a gun in her backpack when she entered Harper High School on South Wood Street. An x-ray machine detected the weapon, police said.

Bryant has been charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon.
