Street closures announced for Wallenda high-wire walk

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Street closures and public viewing locations have been announced for Nik Wallenda's high-wire walk across the Chicago River this weekend. The Discovery Channel will film the event, called "Skyscraper Live," which on Sunday, Nov. 2.

TOn Thursday, Oct. 30, Wacker Drive will be closed between Dearborn Street and State Street as stage and production areas are set up. The Dearborn Street Bridge and State Street Bridge will also be closed.

On Sunday, the day of the event, Wacker Drive will be closed from Clark Street to Wabash Street, State Street will be closed from Lake Street to Kinzie Street, and Dearborn Street will be closed from Lake Street to Kinzie Street. Local access to buildings and businesses will be managed by Chicago Police and security. Those closures are set to take place between 5 p.m. and midnight, though times are subject to change.

Additionally, access to Marina City Plaza will be restricted to resident and facilities access only.

Wallenda's walk will be broadcast live from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Public viewing areas will be set up on Wacker Drive between Clark Street and Dearborn Street, entering from Clark, as well as Wacker Drive between Wabash Street and State Street, entering from Wabash.
