Surf park slated to open at Montrose Beach next year

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Surfers may be able to ride the waves next summer at Chicago's Montrose Beach.

Plans are in the works to open an outdoor surf park and restaurant there. The park will feature a large pool with machines that simulate ocean waves, up to six feet high.

The man behind it all says he wanted to create a new way for people to enjoy Chicago's lakefront.

Chicago Surf is scheduled to open in May of next year.
