MARKHAM, Ill. (WLS) -- One person was killed when gunfire broke out at a crowded sports bar in suburban Markham, police said.

Shots were fired around 1 a.m. Sunday at Adrianna's Sports Pub on 163rd and Dixie Highway, officials said, killing 26-year-old Christopher Hooper and critically wounding a woman.

At least one witness said there was a fight outside, which led to gunfire. The bar was hosting an event featuring the rapper "Future."

"Nothing happened at Billboard Live but there was a shooting at the club next door - Adrianna's," said William Stanback, a witness who was next door. "They kicked us all out, about 40 minutes later they came in with shotguns and all kinds of stuff."

A man sued Adrianna's last year after a supposed attack in the parking lot, claiming there wasn't sufficient security at the event he attended.

Hooper has a criminal record and was on parole for a drug conviction.
