1-year-old girl missing from Indiana home

SPENCER, Ind. (WLS) -- A toddler was reported missing from her family's home near Indianapolis Wednesday morning.

One-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman was last seen in a crib in her family's home in Spencer, Indiana at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The girl's mother, Jessica Mae Stewart, posted a plea on Facebook for help finding her daughter.

Saylyn's grandmother, Tamera Morgan, says she put the toddler to sleep in the living room, though the door was unlocked.

"The front door was unlocked, because we just don't ever lock the door," Morgan told RTV6. We don't have a reason to lock the door. I've lived in Spencer all my life and, you know, we just don't lock doors here."

"We went to bed, and we woke up and she was gone," Morgan said. "She cannot get out of her baby bed, and she cannot get out of the house."

The girl was last seen wearing a white zip-up outfit with owls on it, and may have a Winnie the Pooh blanket.

The Indiana State Police have several search parties ongoing, but the girl's disappearance has not fulfilled all the requirements to trigger an Amber Alert.
