17th Ward alderman approves permit for St. Sabina block party

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A newly-elected Chicago alderman did an about-face and approved a permit for St. Sabina Church's annual block party.

Earlier this week, Alderman David Moore of the 17th Ward refused that permit because the party is co-sponsored by director Spike Lee and the cast of his film "Chiraq."

Moore does not approve of the film's title.

The alderman said he granted the permit after talking with many residents who support the block party, but not the name of the movie.

St. Sabina's block party is scheduled for Saturday.
