2 barges stuck on Illinois River in Utica

UTICA, Ill. (WLS) -- Two large barges have become stuck at the Starved Rock Lock and Dam in Utica, officials say.

The Utica Fire Protection District said that it appears the barges broke free due to the rapid waters in the Illinois River.

The main concern is possible damage to the dam.

The barges do not pose a threat to the surrounding area and there have been no evacuation orders issued.
