CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police were involved in five shootings over the holiday weekend, including one that killed a teenager in the city's Auburn Gresham neighborhood, officials said.

The latest two happened hours apart on Saturday night.

Police shot and killed a teenager after they said he allegedly pointed a weapon at them following an incident near 87th and Sangamon. Officers responded to calls of shots fired near 85th and Morgan, chasing a suspect who they initially lost, police said. However, 20 minutes later, they found him hiding under a car near the back yard of a home in the 8700-block of South Sangamon. Officers shot and killed him after the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at them twice, officials said.

"I have witnesses that say they had seen him running from some other people and police shot him," said Georgina Utendahl, mother of the teenager shot by police.

"A .380 is recovered from the scene, and it remains the same, the police tell you to drop your gun, drop the gun and nothing is going to happen," said Pat Camden, Fraternal Order of Police spokesperson. "You put an officer in fear for his life, he's going to defend himself."

A few hours later in the 7000-block of South Hermitage, officers shot and wounded a man in the back after he allegedly led police on a foot chase and then pointed a weapon at them, police said.

There were three other police-involved shootings that happened Friday night, including one that was fatal near Cicero and Berenice.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating all of these incidents.
