8 injured in multi-vehicle crash on I-55 in Joliet

Eight people were injured, one seriously, in a multi-vehicle crash on I-55 near Joliet that closed the southbound lanes for hours Friday

Illinois State Police said eight cars and one semi were involved in the crash around 5 p.m. in the southbound lanes. Lanes began opening again shortly before 10 p.m.

State police said one person was airlifted to an area hospital for serious injuries.
