CHICAGO (WLS) -- Nine people were wounded in a shooting in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood Sunday morning, police said.

A 33-year-old woman shot in the thigh was transported to Stroger Hospital in serious condition and a 22-year-old man wounded in the foot was transported to Stroger in good condition, the Chicago Fire Department said. Five male victims, ages 17, 23, 29, 30 and 35, were hospitalized at Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition and another 17-year-old boy was at Mt. Sinai in good condition. A 26-year-old male was in stable condition at Rush Oak Park Hospital.
Davontay Pittman said his brother was shot in the ribs, but is alert and talking.
"He just shot a bunch of random people. Thank God they're all surviving. They're all doing well, they're all in recovery. I just pray and hope that the madness in Chicago can slow down or stop," Pittman said.
It is not known what led up to the shooting. Chicago police are investigating and no one is in custody.
