ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) -- Arlington Heights has canceled its Memorial Day parade due to weather concerns, officials announced Friday.
The decision comes as weather forecasts predict rain and a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms during the parade's scheduled time Monday morning, officials said. In the event of a storm, organizers said there is not enough nearby shelter to accommodate the parade's 3,500 participants.
The village's Memorial Day Ceremony will still take place, but inside the Christian Liberty Academy gym beginning at 11 a.m.
