LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- Police are investigating after bullets were found at two La Porte County high schools within the past two days, officials said.
South Central High School was put on lockdown after a bullet was found in the school's girls locker room around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, police said. The lockdown was lifted around 12:15 p.m. after a search of every student locker, which yielded no weapons or suspicious items, police said. The bullet was identified as .22 caliber ammunition.
The incident comes after a bullet was found at New Prairie High School Tuesday, which also prompted a temporary lockdown and search; no other bullets or weapons were found, police said.
Police are continuing to investigate, and encourage anyone with information to contact authorities at 1-800-342-STOP.
