Burglar cuts hole in roof at Lakeview Italian restaurant

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A brazen burglary was caught on video at the La Gondola restaurant, 2914 N. Ashland, in Lakeview.

The burglar climbed up a makeshift ladder, then cut a hole in the roof and came through the ceiling to steal $800 in cash and a laptop before climbing back down and escaping.

The owner says the alarm is connected to the building's doors and never went off.

Police are investigating.
