SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- A car crashed into the front of a 7-11 store in north suburban Skokie on Sunday afternoon.
Officials said that two people were injured at the convenience store in the 3400-block of West Church Street when a driver parking his or her vehicle suddenly accelerated and went through the front glass windows of the store.
"One patron inside the store shopping at the time was hit by the vehicle and debris inside, and also one worker behind the counter was struck," said Chief Gabe Millard, Skokie Fire Department.
Both the customer and the employee were transported to a local hospital. The worker suffered a broken leg and the patron was not seriously injured.
The building sustained some structural damage in the crash.
